LAKE PLACID — The Glades Electric Educational Foundation proudly announces the awarding of $49,000 in scholarships to deserving local students. This year, eight students received $5,000 scholarships, and nine students received $1,000 scholarships. Since its inception, the foundation has awarded over $702,000 in scholarships, supporting the educational aspirations of our community’s youth.
To honor the recipients of the four-year $5,000 scholarships, a special banquet was held on May 14 at the Lake Placid Camp and Conference Center in Lake Placid. The event celebrated the academic and leadership achievements of these outstanding students.
The recipients of the eight $5,000 scholarships are:
• Caydence Cisneros from Moore Haven Middle-High School
• Gavin Johnson from LaBelle High School
• Luke Llossas and Salome Ortiz from Clewiston High School
• George Sebring and Reagan Lenihan from Sebring High School
• Chester Underhill and Luke Larson from Okeechobee High School
The recipients of the nine $1,000 scholarships are:
• Blake Patterson from Moore Haven Middle-High School
• Melany Martinez from Clewiston High School
• Camilla Perez, Savanna Green, and Ryleigh Flynn from Clewiston Christian School
• Clayton Campbell and Aubrey Louque from Lake Placid High School
• Mallory Leve from Florida Virtual School
• Rylee Culbertson from Sebring High School
These students were selected based on their academic and leadership achievements, an essay submission, and financial need.
Additionally, two high school juniors chosen to represent Glades Electric on the Washington, DC Electric Cooperative Youth Tour were honored at the banquet. Congratulations to:
• Andrew Murray from Lake Placid High School
• Eduardo Ortiz from Clewiston High School
