CLEWISTON – A marked Hendry County Sheriff’s Office vehicle with activated emergency lights and sirens was involved in a traffic crash on Montura Avenue at South Hacienda Street on Aug. 8 at 7:55 p.m.

The HCSO 2020 Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling east on Montura Avenue, approaching the posted stop sign intersection of South Hacienda Street, according to the Florida Highway Patrol Report.

A 2016 Chevrolet Cruz, driven by a 61-year-old Clewiston woman, was traveling south on South Hacienda Street approaching the intersection (no posted stop sign).

The HCSO SUV proceeded past the stop sign and entered the intersection, the FHP report states. The front of the SUV collided with the side of the Chevrolet Cruz.

Post collision, the SUV traveled off the roadway and overturned. The Chevrolet Cruz traveled off the roadway and collided with a concrete pillar and fence.

The driver of the Chevrolet Cruz was transported to an area hospital.

The 24-year-old male driver of the HCSO SUV received minor injuries, according to the report.

The crash remains under investigation according to FHP Investigator Trooper B. Petty’s report.
