CLEWISTON — The Hendry County Board of Commissioners adopted the tentative budget and millage rate at their regular meeting Monday, Sept. 14.
The operating millage rate for the fiscal year of 2026-2027 was set at 6.7700, which is greater than the rolled-back rate of 6.4323 mills by 5.25%. Board Chair Ramon Iglesias siting cost-of-living, salary increases, and insurance increases as the reason for the tax increases. One mill equals $1 of tax for every $1,000 of taxable property value.
The tentative budget for fiscal year 2026-2027 was set at $144,070,219.
Both the millage rate and budget were voted on and approved unanimously.
