HENDRY COUNTY — Four vehicles were involved in a fatal accident Tuesday evening, Jan. 17 at approximately 6 p.m. The accident occurred on State Road 80 approaching Townsend Canal Road.
According to the FHP report, two pick-up trucks, a sedan and a box truck were headed east on State Road 80, all in the inside lane. The front of one pick-up, driven by a 27-year-old LaBelle woman, collided with the rear of the second pick-up, driven by a 35-year-old man from LaBelle. The impact sent the second truck into a ditch. The front of the third vehicle, a sedan, driven by a 44-year-old man from LeHigh Acres, then hit the rear of the first pick-up truck, and the fourth vehicle, a box truck, driven by a 27-year-old man from LaBelle hit the rear of the sedan.
The driver in the first pick-up was seriously injured and flown to Gulf Coast Medical Center. The driver of the sedan was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The accident is under investigation.
