OKEECHOBEE — A Lake Okeechobee Watershed Protection Plan public stakeholder meeting is planned for Thursday, April 18, at 11 a.m. in the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) Okeechobee Service Center, 316 N.W. Fifth St., Okeechobee.
In accordance with the Northern Everglades and Estuaries Protection Program, beginning March 1, 2020, and every five years thereafter, the South Florida Water Management District is required to update the Lake Okeechobee Watershed Protection Plan.
The protection plan is comprised of two major components, the Lake Okeechobee Construction Project and the Research and Water Quality Monitoring Program. SFWMD will present the approach to updating the protection plan components.
The meeting will also be webcast.
