FLORIDA- The Jan La Belle Scholarship Program was established in 2009 to provide a financial resource to Florida residents with disabilities who desire to pursue their personal and career goals through attendance at a post-secondary institution.
The Jan La Belle Scholarship offers the following two application options for Florida residents with disabilities:
Option A – Academic (Standard Diploma)
Option B – Career or Trade Skill Development
One or more Jan La Belle Scholarship winners are selected annually. Award amounts are based on several factors, including available funds and number of eligible applicants.
Previous scholarship awards include:
Kinsey Leonard, from St. Johns, Florida, attended Daytona State College Southeast Center for Photographic Studies. Kinsey now works at Marineland Dolphin Adventure taking photographs during in-water programs.
Jessica Moody, from Melbourne Beach, Florida, has graduated from the University of Central Florida with a degree in Elementary Education.
Daniel Caballero, from Davie, Florida, attends the University of Central Florida pursuing a degree in medicine so that he can become a doctor.
Erica Martinez, from Immokalee, Florida, is the first in her family to go to college. She attends the University of North Florida majoring in Community Health with a minor in Health Education.
Fazida Yathali, from Wellington, Florida, attends Kansas City Art Institute.
Brian Adkins, from Jacksonville, Florida, attends Florida State College at Jacksonville pursuing a degree in Special Education.
Bradley Mauger, from Longwood, Florida, will is attending the University of North Florida in the Fall, where he is pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance. The scholarship winners for 2019-2020 were Star Major, Kylie Coulombe, and Lauren Rosentha. All who are certainly destined for great futures.
The 2020-2021 Jan La Belle Scholarship deadline is June 30.
