A BIG Thank You to all volunteers who came together for each step in the process to be able to send out 544 full Christmas Dinners. Most were delivered by volunteers, though a few were picked up at the Legion. The meals were prepared for Veterans, First Responders, shut-ins and families in need. The American Legion Commander, Bill Davis and Nikki Yeager coordinated the event. Kimber Bischoff had a team bake cakes for 600. Thank you to the Lipman Family Farm in Immokalee and the Duda branch in Belle Glade for furnishing the vegetables for salads. Donna & Gene McAvoy and Sherrill & Rick Overberg picked up the vegetables. Large groups from Grandmas Grove, Moss Landing and other community volunteers cleaned and prepare all the vegetables for the salads. Sysco donated turkey breasts. Boxes of all sizes were stacked and 11 routes were compiled for the Christmas Day deliveries.
Amazing the wonderful volunteers who came together Christmas morning to finalize and make this annual event happen so smoothly. Even NBC News came out, rode on a delivery route and put together a brief Christmas news clip.
Thank you once again to the hundreds of volunteers who helped make the dinners and deliveries happen and those who made a financial donation to help with expenses so this can continue to be FREE gift to make this a Merry Christmas for many!!
