Boys & Girls Club opens local campus

The Boys & Girls Club of Collier County had its Grand Opening of The Bolch Campus in Immokalee on November 17 at 1155 Roberts Ave. The beautifully designed building was named Michael G. Degroote and Gillian Campbell Immokalee Youth Development Center. Immokalee is very delighted to have a new addiction for the youth of Immokalee where they can come to a place to have fun and continue to learn in a safe environment

The Mission of the Boys & Girls Club is “to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.” Those words are very befiitting to the community of Immokalee. The Immokalee community recognizes the wonderful work of The Boys & Girls Club CEO, Ms. Theresa Shaw for all her efforts in bringing this project to our community. Immokalee Chamber of Commerce President, Danny Gonzalez thanked the person involved from beginning to end for the wonderful concept of the Boys & Girls Club being in Immokalee. This is another wonderful addittion for the kids of Immokalee and our community. The Official Sign of the Immokalee campus was unveiled by Susan & Carl Bolch, Jr. “It is BEAUTIFUL”. The board members of the Boys & Girls Club, who put in timeless hours in making the Immokalee campus come alive are as follow: Mary Pat Hussey, Jerry F. Nichols, Jose Baez, MD, Dorothy H Baker, Domenic Ferrante, Terrance Flynn, Joel Lipman, MD,Ryan Benson,Susan Bass Bolch, Gurcham Dang,Greg Faulkner, James Kempt, Jane Kerr, Lisa Merritt, Mary Osborn, Danny Pate, Manuel Pena MD, George Phillips, Lea Cole Smith, Damian Taylor and Wanda Zaiser. The Grand Opening had over 100 persons in attendance. After the ceremony, Ms Shaw invited everyone to a brunch reception and Club Tours. After the ribbons were cut, Fred N. Thomas, Jr., affectionately called the Mayor of Immokalee, thanked all the board members, staff and Ms Thersa Shaw for making this “DREAM” come true for the community of Immokalee.
