Clerk’s Office to hold Operation Green Light

Opportunity to pay overdue fines that affect driving privileges, and avoid paying the extra collection fee

Posted

NAPLES — The Collier County Clerk’s Office will hold an “Operation Green Light” driver license reinstatement event on Friday, Nov. 13, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Tax Collector’s Eagle Creek branch office, 6654 Collier Blvd. in Naples (south of U.S. 41, in front of the Walmart Superstore).

Operation Green Light is a one-day-only driver license reinstatement event that offers individuals the opportunity to pay overdue traffic ticket fines and/or court fees without paying the extra 32% collection fee. Individuals who meet all eligibility requirements will have their suspended driver license reinstated.

Florida law requires each clerk of court to hold at least one driver license reinstatement day annually. The event, known as Operation Green Light, offers individuals with a suspended driver license the opportunity to pay past due court costs and fines, including traffic citation fines, without having to pay an additional 32% collection fee. Individuals who meet eligibility requirements will have their suspended driver license reinstated and get the “green light” to get back on the road. Staff from the Tax Collector’s Office will be on hand to print new licenses.

Additional details:

Payments must be made in the county where the fee or fine is owed.

Individuals experiencing financial hardship and struggling to pay court costs and fines, including traffic citation fines, are encouraged to speak to a clerk’s customer service representative about establishing a reasonable payment plan.

A person is not eligible for driver license reinstatement by the clerk’s office if his/her license was suspended or revoked because of:
• Failure to fulfill a court-ordered child support obligation;

• Driving Under the Influence (DUI);
• Failure to complete a required driver training program, driver improvement course, or alcohol or substance abuse education or evaluation program;
• A traffic-related felony; or
• Being a habitual traffic offender as defined in Florida Statute 322.264.
