The Immokalee High School BETA Club continues to make the community of Immokalee proud. BETA’s focus is on achievement, character, leadership, and service. Their motto, Let Us Lead by Serving Others, stands true. The Immokalee BETAs continue to volunteer their services to local non-profit organizations and events. The Club is also renowned in the BETA circuit. In addition to multiple national awards, the Immokalee BETAs have held winning state titles for 29 years in a row! Their leader, Linda Ayer, has been a Club Sponsor for 35 years and has continued to give her all to the students, which shows in their results. Most recently, the Immokalee BETAs brought home 18 awards from the Florida State BETA Convention, both group and individual. They received first place wins in the following categories: Banner, Campaign Skit (perfect score), Character Skit, Group Talent (perfect score), Living Literature, and Scrapbook (perfect score). With their accolades, they qualified to compete in 17 events at the National BETA Convention in June. In fact, they are the defending National Campaign Skit Champions! They also had three students chosen to perform in the National BETA Convention opening number, and Immokalee BETA Club member Frankie Villa will be running for National Vice President. Now, the Immokalee BETAs are on a quest to raise the necessary funding to send 75 students to Savannah, Georgia, to compete June 17-20. The cost per student is $300. If you would like to help, donations may be sent to Immokalee High School (701 Immokalee Drive, Immokalee, Florida 34142) or you may contact Linda Ayer at ayerli@collierschools.com. The Immokalee BETAs give wholeheartedly to our community. Now is our chance to support them.
