For years, the pier at Ann Olesky Park in Immokalee has desperately needed repairs. In fact, the 40-year-old pier was in such disrepair that it became dangerous to lean on the railing in many places. With pressure from local residents and business owners, Collier County Commissioners finally decided to move forward with the rehabilitation project last July. The county selected Infinite Construction to handle the repairs at a cost of nearly $437,000. That money came from the county bed tax fund. Fast-forward six months and the project is nearing completion. With a new railing, walkway, and roof, the pier is guaranteed to welcome visitors for many years to come. Although the reopening date is yet to be announced, Collier County Facilities Management Division hopes that the pier will be back open by late February or early March.
