Ready for an adventure? Enjoy a special day out with the family at the Naples Depot Museum, as guests of the Smithsonian Institution’s Museum Day Live! In the spirit of the Smithsonian Museums, which offer free admission every day, Museum Day Live! is an annual event hosted by Smithsonian magazine in which participating museums across the country open their doors on Saturday, Sept. 23, to allow patrons to visit for free.
The Collier County Museums’ five locations are always free. So to celebrate Museum Day Live!, the Naples Depot Museum will have a special event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 23. Visitors can tour Naples’ first passenger train station, ride a miniature railroad, participate in a scavenger hunt to win prizes, view various vehicles, have your face painted and join in a full day of lively, educational activities for both adults and children. While you’re there, enjoy offerings from local food trucks, and learn from countless civic and cultural organizations from Collier County and beyond.
Admission to the Naples Depot Museum, 1051 5th Ave. S., Naples, Florida 34102, is free. Museum Day Live! is sponsored in part by the DQ Grill & Chill, 694 9th St. N., Naples, Florida 34102. For more information, contact the Naples Depot Museum at (239) 262-6525 or visit www.colliermuseums.com.
Set in Naples’ first passenger train station, the restored Naples Depot Museum takes visitors back to Florida’s railroading heyday and tells how technology and transportation helped Naples grow from a village of 300 souls to today’s glittering Gulf Coast resort.
