Rev. Howard Allen’s Ministry Recognized

Posted
To many people in Immokalee he was affectionately known as “Rev.” To many others he was husband, father, pastor and friend! The Immokalee Ministerial Alliance would like to give special recognition as “Ministry of the Month” to a great man who has served the LORD and Immokalee in a multitude of different ways.
From left to right: Pastor Rick Heers, Pastor Howard Allen, and Pastor T.W. Mallory.
As pastor of Glendale Bible Baptist Church, located at 1205 West Main Street, Rev. came to Immokalee from Miami in 1974 with his lovely wife of 63 year, Ophelia. Under the leadership of Rev. Joseph Coats at Richmond Heights, he was called and ordained to preach the gospel. Over the years, while working for the Collier County Public Schools, he also pastored Glendale, which was started by First Baptist Church of Immokalee. Over the years he and Ophelia have raised two daughters and four sons, and have rejoiced as they have presented this godly couple with 19 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Additionally over the years thirty-five other children/youth have spent time in their home for weeks/month/and years preparing for college and life… all without any assistance from the state of government. Glendale was constituted as an independent church in 1990 and has continued to reach the lost and teach parishioners the love of JESUS as they ministered to the needs of the community. He has continued to live out his personal motto, “Because of Jesus, I serve.” Several restaurants in Immokalee help give thanks by providing a dinner for two to the Pastor. This month’s dinner has been graciously provided by Mi Ranchito Restaurant. In addition to the dinner, Glendale Baptist has the privilege of displaying a special trophy for the month presented by I.M.A. Congratulations to Rev. Howard and Ophelia Allen.
