Taste of Immokalee, a student-centered organization, recently started an eight-week leadership program aimed at bringing students from Naples together with students from Immokalee to not only learn about running a business, but to give students the opportunity to apply what they’ve learned in an actual business environment.

Throughout the eight-week program, student interns will be paid $8.50 per hour for their work. What makes this program unique is that throughout the entire eight-week session, students from Immokalee will be traveling to the Greater Naples YMCA and students from Naples will be traveling to the Immokalee Boys & Girls Club to meet with their fellow students. These joint sessions will be held twice per week in Immokalee and twice per week in Naples. Together with Tamiami Angel Funds and the Community Foundation of Collier County, Taste of Immokalee worked to start a new investment fund for those looking to make tax-deductible donations to help the Taste of Immokalee Organization. The goal is to use those donations to help promote and create jobs in Immokalee. Those interested in donating may visit www.tamiamiangels.com and click on Taste of Immokalee. Taste of Immokalee products are also sold in Publix stores across Collier County as well as other stores such as Fish Crazy, Three60 Market, Wynn’s Market, Oakes Farms Market, Neighborhood Organics, and at the Immokalee and Marco Island Airports.
