The Immokalee Ministerial Alliance welcomes new leadership

Posted
On January 8, 2017 at the Immokalee Ministerial Alliance’s (I.M.A) monthly meeting, the founding president, Rev. Lori Snell, asked to step down from the office of president of the multi-denominational/cultural group after approximately seven faithful years of service. The group of pastors and religious community leaders, who were present at the meeting, said that they would “regretfully” accept her resignation, but would do so because it was her request.

The group chose two ministers to preside over the growing and outreaching organization. Pastor Richard Heers (a former, long time pastor in the Immokalee community, a community activist, educator, and currently a member of the First Baptist Church of Immokalee) and Pastor Terry Mallory (the dynamic senior pastor of First Missionary Baptist Church). Under Pastor Snell’s leadership, I.M.A was able to establish several outreach ministries. One of them was a community-wide, five day, annual, Roaming Revival, which has contributed $8,000 or more to the Immokalee High School’s Scholarship Fund. This year’s Roaming Revival (January 9-13) raised a little over $2,000 for the Immokalee High School Scholarship Fund, and will be presented to them this spring; Also, an annual Early Morning, community-wide Easter service was established, and it continues to see more community participation, each year; and a monthly ministry award for different ministries in the community, who are reaching out to impact their community in a positive way, was established. The chosen ministries are presented with a trophy and a gift certificate to a local restaurant for the pastor and spouse; Also, regular monthly meetings at a local restaurant were establishe and thanks to the benevolence of another community-minded organization, all meals are free for all attendees, to help boost interest in the mission of I.M.A, which is to bring unity in the community of Immokalee. Pastor Snell, who has a great love for the people of Immokalee, will still work closely with I.M.A and she cannot wait to see what terrific things that God is going perform through this growing organization. All community pastors and religious leaders are welcome to join I.M.A meetings every second Sunday of each month at 2:00 p.m at Mi Ranchito Restaurant and Ice Cream Shop. Please come support this great organization.
