On Wednesday, May 25, more than 250 volunteers from The Home Depot’s Hardware Departments and their vendor partners joined local store associates to work on Faith Landing, an affordable housing development in Immokalee. Faith Landing will have more than 160 homes when complete. A portion of the homes will go to veteran families. Habitat for Humanity Collier County has seen an increased need for permanent affordable housing in this region of Florida. Phase one of the development is finished and families have moved in to the homes. Volunteers will work on phase two and phase three of the development. Volunteer projects throughout the day included: • Framing homes • Painting • Installing siding • Landscaping This effort in Immokalee is a part of The Home Depot’s ongoing efforts to improve the homes and lives of U.S. military veterans and their families. Since 2011, Team Depot, the company’s associate-led volunteer force, has transformed more than 25,000 homes for veterans across the country. Giving back to veterans is personal to The Home Depot, as more than 35,000 of the company’s associates have served in the military. The volunteers worked their magic on Custer Ave, May 25 from 8:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. Volunteers on the project are also from Crown Bolt, Grip-Rite, Schlage, The Hillman Group, Inc., Kwikset and Diablo.
