Accused sexual offender captured

OKEECHOBEE -- Some great work was done by the Okeechobee County Sheriff's Office uniformed patrol and the detective division.

Late yesterday, Dec. 13, an alert citizen brought the end of running for Javas Jones. Jones has been eluding capture since the release of his warrant on sexual battery on a victim 16 years old went public.

Javas, who called and told our detectives he was in Atlanta, Georgia, was here in Okeechobee and seen by the citizen who called stating Jones was still in the area.

An alert patrol officer located and arrested Jones a short time later.
