Clarke Environmental Services, Inc. will be conducting adult mosquito control spraying in select areas of Okeechobee County from Sunday, August 3 through Tuesday, August 5, weather permitting. Spraying will occur between the hours of 7:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. using truck-mounted Ultra Low Volume (ULV) sprayers.

Targeted areas include:

• Fort Drum

• Lazy 7

• Kissimmee River Estates

This mosquito control effort is part of an ongoing initiative to reduce mosquito populations and minimize the risk of mosquito-borne illnesses. Residents are encouraged to report areas with high mosquito activity by calling the Clarke Mosquito Hotline at 1-800-203-6485. To help reduce mosquito breeding grounds, residents can take the following preventive measures:

•Remove standing water from containers such as birdbaths, flowerpots, and pet bowls.

•Keep lawns and vegetation trimmed.

•Repair damaged window and door screens.
