The Lake Okeechobee Association of Airboaters will host an airboat and buggy show at Okeechobee Agri-Civic Center on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
At their July 10 meeting, Okeechobee County Commissioners voted to waive the use fees for the facility for the event.
Assistant County Administrator for Administrative Services Denise Whitehead said the show was very successful last year. About 6,000 people came through the gates that day, she added.
“This is definitely a tourism event,” she said. “We had a lot of people who came from out of town for this event.”
“I’ve seen this grow,” said Commissioner Brad Goodbread, who noted the event started in the field behind the Okeechobee Civic Center and quickly outgrew that location.
The commission agreed to waive the facility use fee of $1,417.75 for the event. LOAA is a nonprofit organization.
