The bridge has a clearance of about 175 feet above the river. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
Musk's latest Grok chatbot searches for billionaire mogul's views before answering questions
Elon Musk's new AI chatbot, Grok 4, is raising eyebrows for its unusual behavior. Released by Musk's company xAI on Wednesday, the chatbot sometimes searches Musk's opinions on his platform, X, before answering controversial questions. Experts testing Grok noticed it references Musk's views, even when not prompted, to guide its responses. Grok 4 is designed to show its reasoning process, but critics say the lack of a technical explanation from xAI is troubling. Some experts praise its capabilities but warn its unpredictability could deter users.

Walmart recalls 850,000 water bottles after two consumers suffer vision loss from ejecting caps
NEW YORK (AP) — Walmart is recalling about 850,000 stainless steel water bottles because the lid can “forcefully eject” and unexpectedly strike consumers — resulting in permanent vision loss for two people to date. The recall covers Walmart’s “Ozark Trail 64 oz Stainless Steel Insulated Water Bottles,” which have been sold at the chain’s stores across the country since 2017. According to a notice from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, when a consumer attempts to open the bottles after food, carbonated beverages or perishable drinks are stored inside over time, the lid can eject forcefully. Walmart had received three reports of consumers who were injured after being struck in the face by these lids when opening their bottles. And two of those people suffered permanent vision loss.

Ford recalls over 850,000 cars in the US due to potential fuel pump failure
NEW YORK (AP) — Ford is recalling more than 850,000 of its cars across the U.S. because the low-pressure fuel pump inside the vehicles may fail — and potentially cause an engine stall while driving, increasing crash risks. The recall covers a wide range of Ford and Lincoln-branded vehicles made in recent model years. That includes certain Ford Broncos, Explorers and F-150s, as well as Lincoln Aviators and Navigators, documents published this week by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration note. Ford plans to send out notification letters to affected owners starting July 14, to warn of safety risks related to this potential fuel pump failure. But recall documents note that a remedy is still under development. Ford isn’t aware of any accidents or injuries related to these recalled cars.
US has reclosed its southern border after a flesh-eating parasite is seen further north in Mexico
The U.S. has closed its southern border again to livestock imports, saying that a flesh-eating parasite has moved further north in Mexico than previously reported. Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum was critical Thursday, suggesting that the U.S. is exaggerating the threat to its beef industry from the parasite. The pest is the New World screwworm fly, and females lay eggs in wounds on warm-blooded animals. The larvae that hatch are unusual among flies for feeding on live flesh and fluids instead of dead material. American officials worry that if the fly reaches Texas, its flesh-eating maggots could cause large economic losses as they did decades ago before the U.S. eradicated the pest.
Flamingos are stirring up trouble and ravaging rice for risotto in Italy's northeast
JOLANDA DI SAVOIA, Italy (AP) — Farmers in Italy's northeastern Po Delta region are battling an unusual pest: flamingos. These birds have been invading rice paddies and damaging crops while searching for food like mollusks and insects. Farmers are using noisy tactics such as gas cannons and banging barrels to scare them off, but the birds often move to nearby fields. Some farmers report losing up to 90% of their crops. There have been no studies to determine why flamingos seek food inland where farmers flood fields from late spring to early summer. Ornithologists suggest humane solutions like planting hedges or lowering water levels in paddies to deter the birds while protecting the rice.
