Al Cole, a resident who lives on Northeast Third Cirle, said he received a notification from the Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office letting the family know there is an ongoing incident involving a stand off with a suspect and negotiations are ongoing. The scene is contained, and there is no immediate danger to the surrounding area. The notice continued asking residents to stay away from the area until updates are provided.
Cole went on to explain it was a domestic shooting, and one victim had been transported to Raulerson Hospital and then lifeflighted.
“SWAT and the armored vehicle are on site,” said Cole. “Dozens of law enforcement officers in body armor with rifles are surrounding the house.”
Surrounding homes were evacuated, and OCSO asked everyone to stay away from the area until given the all clear.
Shortly after 8 p.m., the suspect was in custody.
