OKEECHOBEE — The Big O Teen Anglers held their April tournament out of Okee-Tantie. It was a beautiful day for fishing and the bite this month was not very good, but the kids caught some bigger fish than last month. Nine out of 16 of the youth anglers caught fish this time around with only one catching a limit.
There were nine anglers to catch 21 Bass with a total weight of 37.82 lbs. The largest Bass caught was 4.15 lbs. and was caught by Taylor Nelson of the 15 to 19 age group.
The next tournament will be held on May 25, out of Okee-Tantie.
In the 11-14 age group top anglers were:
• First - Brian Holtkamp, 4.47 lbs. and Big Fish 2.39 lbs.;
• Second - Lane Davis .74 lbs.
In the 15-19 age group top anglers were:
• First - Taylor Nelson 10.30 lbs .and Big Fish 4.15 lbs.;
• Second - Trent Nelson 8.30 lbs.;
• Third - Alex Figueroa 4.33 lbs.
Every month there is a boat captain that volunteers their Saturday morning to the youth anglers, therefore a “Thank you” is extended to the following: Buster McMillan, Mitch Mulholland, Jim Newell, Herman Parker, John Ellerbee, Chuck Fleishing, Terry Seabolt and Billy Ellerbee.
A “Thank you” is also extended to the Melette family for providing the after tournament lunch.
