BOCC addresses data center concerns

Posted

Okeechobee County appreciates the public participation at today’s, April 9, Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) meeting regarding the proposed data center project. We thank all residents who took the time to attend and share their thoughts, concerns, and perspectives during public comment.

The Board recognizes the importance of the issues raised, including water resources, infrastructure, energy demands, environmental impacts, and preserving the character and quality of life that make our community unique. These are meaningful concerns, and we want our residents to know their voices are being heard.

Okeechobee County remains committed to a transparent process. We will continue to evaluate all information carefully, work with our partners, and keep the community informed as discussions continue. Public input will remain an important part of these conversations.

As this project is on property owned by Indian River State College, residents seeking additional details are encouraged to contact the college directly for more information.
