OKEECHOBEE- The Okeechobee High School Brahman varsity soccer team is off to a great start this year, opening their season with five back-to-back wins.
In Okeechobee’s first game of the season they shutout Tradition Prep 7-0 on the road, with seniors Cristian Diaz, Tony Zamora, Elias Garcia , and Blane Boyer all scoring goals for the Brahmans. They followed that up with a 3-2 win over Fort Pierce Central on Nov. 10 and a 6-1 victory against Fort Pierce Westwood on Nov. 13.
The Brahmans added two more wins their first home games of the season, beating Hardee 4-1 on Nov. 14 and Clewiston 2-1 on Nov. 16.
Defensively the Brahmans haven’t allowed more than two goals in a game this season.
The Brahmans will be back at OHS next month following the Christmas break to host John Carroll Catholic on Jan. 10. Then, they have a big district game against Bayside on Jan. 16 at OHS.
The Brahmans fell to district foe Rockledge in a close 2-1 match earlier this year, which let Rockledge claim the top rank in the district. A win against Bayside would be crucial in setting Okeechobee up for the playoffs. Okeechobee has a 5-2-1 record currently.
Next week the Brahmans are on the road to take on the Martin County Tigers on Dec. 19 at 6 p.m.
