Businesswomen to meet
OKEECHOBEE — The Okeechobee Businesswomen’s Referral Network will meet on Friday, May 17, at Lakeside Grill, 1111 S. Shrine club will host event
OKEECHOBEE — Okeechobee Shrine Club, 1855 S.W. 53rd St., will serve cheeseburgers and hot dogs with sides for $5 on Friday, May 17. There will be live music. The lounge opens at 6 p.m.

American Legion Post #64
OKEECHOBEE — American Legion Post #64, 501 S.E. Second St., will host the following events: On Friday, May, 17, the auxiliary will serve a fish dinner from 5 to 8 p.m. Menu includes choice of fish, shrimp or chicken in a basket for $6 or on a salad for $7. Music by Glenn Meyer “Sax Man” from 6 to 9 p.m. On Saturday, May 18, Armed Forces Day will be observed. The Post will be welcoming the American Legion Riders Post #62 from Stuart. The monthly Euchre (tournament style) will be held. Join in for friendly competition and meet up with people with like interests. NASCAR - All Star Race in Concord, N.C. Tailgate Party will be held at 6 p.m. Preakness Stakes, second leg of the Triple Crown will be held at 6 p,m, There will be $9 buckets of domestic beer all day. On Sunday, May 19, bingo will be held at 6:30 p.m. Doors open at 5 p.m. Kitchen will be open from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. On Monday, May 20, five card bingo will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m. On Tuesday, May 21, a meeting will be held. OKEECHOBEE — The Moose Lodge 1753, 159 N.W. 36th St., will host the following events: On Friday, May 17, there will be hamburgers and shrimp at 5 p.m. On Saturday, May 18, there will be the WOTM dinner of shepherd’s pie at 5 p.m. with music by Lisa Riley. On Sunday, May 19, there will be breakfast from 8 to 9:45 a.m. and three-card bingo from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.

BUCKHEAD RIDGE — The VFW Post 9528, 29012 S.R. 78 E., will host the following events: The post will serve dinner on Friday, May 17, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. with music by Medicine Man from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The VFW Riders will serve a full breakfast on Saturday, May 18, from 8:30 to 11 a.m. and wings and things at 4 p.m. On Sunday, May 19, a full breakfast will be served from 8 to 10:30 a.m. by The AMVETS. Church hosts yard sale
OKEECHOBEE — Church of our Saviour, 200 N.W. Third St., is having an indoor yard sale on Saturday, May 18, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be nice men’s and women’s clothes, housewares, linens, books and much more.

Elks to host breakfast

OKEECHOBEE — The Okeechobee Elks Lodge, 131 N.W. 36th St., is having its AYCE pancake breakfast on Sunday, May 19, from 8 to 11 a.m. There will be a choice of sausage or bacon with pancakes and juice or coffee. Adults are $6 and children under 5 are free. For an extra $1 you can add two eggs.

New Horizon benefit set

Second St., will host Quarters For a Cause to benefit Kyle Vericella on Tuesday, May 21, from 6 to 7 p.m. Kyle was diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer at the age of 18. Caregiver Workshop set

Training session to be held
OKEECHOBEE — Southeast Florida Behavioral Health Network presents Introduction to Wraparound on Tuesday, May 28, at 11 a.m. at the School District Office, 700 S.W. Second Ave., in room 303. High fidelity wraparound is an evidence-informed practice used to operationalize system of care values, typically when providing case management to individuals and families.

Diabetes workshop to be held
OKEECHOBEE — Lake Okeechobee Rural Health Network is providing a free diabetes self-management workshop for adults and seniors with type-2 diabetes. The series will be held at Our Village Okeechobee, 1703 S.W. Second Ave. This workshop is a series of six 2.5-hour meetings. The first meeting is on Tuesday, June 4, then the following will be on Tuesdays: June 11, June 18, June 25, July 2, and July 9.
