County leaders announce possibility of toll road

OKEECHOBEE — This morning (April 1) at approximately 2 a.m. during an emergency joint meeting of the Okeechobee City Commissioners and the Okeechobee County Council, Councilman Chad Badbread announced a plan to bring more money into the county.

Badbread apologized for the early meeting but said it was their way of deterring annoying protestors from attending. Next month, they are thinking of meeting on Commissioner Howling Hotford’s yacht. Badbread is especially anxious to avoid the protestors, as he heard a rumor they planned to shave off his beautiful mustache. “We can’t let that happen,” he said, as he stroked the furry stache, and Councilman Wavy Mapleleaf agreed. “It’s practically an institution,” he said.

Due to some unfortunate bad investments, the county is in dire need of more funding. Rather than raise taxes, Commissioner Rob Harold suggested making a portion of State Road 70 a toll road. Citizens of Okeechobee will have the option to purchase a pass they can put on their vehicles. Others will be charged through license plate identification, and tickets will be mailed to their homes ordering payment of $10 each time they pass under the traffic signal by RaceTrac. “I was against that signal from the start said Hotford. It slows down the traffic and makes life difficult for everyone. If we institute a toll, at least people might take another route.

Councilman Larry Morose said he understood the idea but needed more time to think about it, and Commissioner Harmonica Bark agreed. “It’s a great idea, but maybe we should sleep on it,” she said.

Councilman Hank Riccola, who was snoring, woke up after Morose elbowed him in the ribs. “Huh?” he said. “I’m sorry, I missed that. Can you start again?”

Commissioner Harold filled him in and they agreed to discuss it again at their next meeting. The meeting video and details for the next one can be found here… Emergency meeting
