Couple donates bikes for "Ride to Work" program

Posted

OKEECHOBEE -- John and Sue Platt donated two bicycles for Okeechobee County Sheriff's Office community relations unit to give deserving young people or adults an option to get to work.

OCSO's community relations liaison typically drives around with a bicycle in their vehicle.

They see someone walking around in a work uniform or on a long stretch of roadway, pull over and gift them a bicycle on behalf of all of the Sheriff's Office in the hopes it goes to make their travels a little easier.

"Ride to Work" is a program Sheriff Noel E. Stephen started earlier last year, and it has taken off.
