HARRISBURG, Pa. – Florida 4-H and Okeechobee Brahman FFA youth had an unforgettable showing at the All-American Dairy Judging Contest, bringing home top honors in both team and individual competitions.
Both programs captured the Overall Champion title and claimed first place in Reasons, showcasing the depth of talent and dedication among Florida’s dairy youth. This marks the first time in the contest’s history that all eight youth participants have come from the same high school.
Individual honors highlighted the day as well. Lila Bishop of Florida FFA and Lilly Larson of Florida 4-H were each named High Individual Overall in their respective divisions. Alongside these achievements, team members also secured multiple additional top finishes in dairy breeds, continuing Florida’s strong tradition of excellence in national dairy judging.
This victory marks the third consecutive national competition where Florida teams have earned the top spot. Last year, Josh Larson captured High Individual honors at the North American International Livestock Expo, further cementing Florida’s reputation as a leader in youth dairy judging.
Looking ahead, the teams hope to carry this momentum forward. The Florida 4-H team will compete at World Dairy Expo later this month, while the Florida FFA team prepares for their national convention contest in October.
The teams are guided by coaches Travis and Colleen Larson and Gene Holcomb, who hope to inspire the next generation of dairy industry leaders.
It was truly a banner day for Florida dairy judging, and the future looks bright as these talented youth continue to shine on the national stage.
