Florida has 3 of the 10 deadliest highways in U.S. for car trips this summer

Posted

A new study found Florida has three of the 10 deadliest highways in America and residents should be on high alert when taking car trips this summer.

Florida’s I-4 ranks No. 1 averaging 32.5 fatal crashes per 100 miles; US-192 ranks No. 6 with 25.3 fatal crashes; and I-95 ranks No. 8 with 17.1 fatal crashes.

Fatal crashes historically surge in the summer when Americans drive longer distances -- and ramp up alcohol consumption -- for vacations, holidays, BBQ’s, weddings, and other social functions.

On June 3, Munley Law released a study on the States with the Best and Worst Drivers after analyzing the most recent data from National Highway Safety Traffic Administration through 2022.

Florida has the 25 best drivers in the nation. Per 100,000 residents there were 15.2 traffic fatalities, 27.6 DUI arrests, 3.8 drunk driving fatalities, and 1.53 speeding fatalities.

The 10 deadliest highways in America

1) I-4 (Florida) – 32.5 crashes per 100 miles

2) I-14 (Texas) – 31.9
