OKEECHOBEE — Frauds and scams come in many shapes and forms and it seems no matter how hard we try, we sometimes find ourselves in the midst of one. An Okeechobee man found himself in this situation last month when for no apparent reason, his electricity was turned off. When he questioned this, he was told he owed an outstanding balance for an account on Beach Road in West Palm Beach. The man said he has never lived at that address and did not open an account for anyone there.
He told the deputy he knew the jurisdiction was actually Palm Beach County but just needed a report generated for FPL so the charges can be reversed.
If you find yourself in a similar situation, do not hesitate to call for help.
