OKEECHOBEE – Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is investigating the death of an Okeechobee man whose body was found floating in Taylor Creek on April 17.
The death is under investigation by FWC as the result of a boating accident or incident.
According to FWC report, on April 17, “at approximately 11:45 a.m., FWC was notified of a boating incident on Taylor Creek in Okeechobee County. A white male was found floating in the water next to an empty vessel. Okeechobee Fire Rescue pulled him from the water, and he was pronounced dead on scene. The Medical Examiner took possession of the body. FWC is the lead on investigating this incident.”
FWC identified the victim as Charles M. Hobbs, 81, of Okeechobee. He was found next to a 17 ft. open motorboat.
