In the Courts
The following felony cases have either been tried in a court of law or have been settled without trial and are considered closed.

• Cheyenne Smith was sentenced to 18 months in state prison after pleading no contest to the charge accessory after the fact in a first degree felony. Smith was driving the car when her boyfriend, Derrick Clay murdered Tohermain Rosier in Douglas Park. Clay was sentenced to life in prison.

• Javier Benitez was sentenced to three years probation after pleading no contest to burglary of a conveyance and petit theft. Adjudication was withheld. Benitez was 16 when he was arrested in 2020.

• Brandon Cardenas was sentenced to five years probation after pleading no contest to felony battery. Cardenas was arrested in February 2020 after stabbing his girlfriend.

• Nicole Monahan was sentenced to state prison for one year and one day after pleading no contest to the sale of hydromorphone and possession with intent to sell. Monahan was arrested in September of 2020 during an undercover operation by the Okeechobee Narcotics Task Force.

• Anthony Norman was sentenced to state prison for two years and six months after pleading no contest to battery by a detainee. Norman was arrested in March of 2020 after he and another inmate attacked a third man.

• Anthony Sanchez was sentenced to three years in state prison after pleading no contest to charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance, resisting an officer without violence and possession of drug paraphernalia. Sanchez was arrested in June 2020 by a member of the Okeechobee Narcotics Task Force.

• Blake Sheltra was sentenced to state prison for 18 months after pleading no contest to possession of buprenorphine. Sheltra was arrested in October 2020 after a traffic stop by a narcotics task force officer. The stop was conducted because some occupants of the vehicle were not wearing seatbelts.

• Anna Smyth was sentenced to five months probation after pleading no contest to possession of methamphetamine and tampering with evidence. Smyth was arrested in December 2020 when a member of the narcotics task force stopped her for speeding.

• John Walker was sentenced to nine months in county jail after pleading no contest to charges of sale of a controlled substance and possession of cocaine with intent to sell. Walker was arrested In September of 2020 during an undercover narcotics operation.

• Jennifer Laird was sentenced to 18 months probation after pleading no contest to possession of synthetic cannabinoid. Laird was arrested October 2020 after a traffic stop.

• Terry Huff was sentenced to one year probation after pleading no contest to carrying a concealed weapon, driving without a license and no license for operating a motorcycle. Huff was arrested in May 2020 during a traffic stop.
