OKEECHOBEE — October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Domestic Violence Awareness Month is aimed at mourning those who have died due to domestic violence, celebrating those who have survived, and connecting those who work to end domestic violence.
The City and County of Okeechobee will join with Martha’s House and Domestic Violence advocates across the United States to honor survivors and victims of Domestic Violence.
You too can join them by attending The Walk In Her Shoes event on Saturday, Oct. 16, 2021, in Flagler Park, 55 S.E. Third Ave., at noon. You will get the unique opportunity to participate in this interactive activity, and you will also get lunch and entertainment. Students will receive community service hours for participating.
And that’s not all! Oct. 21 is PURPLE Thursday. All you have to do is wear something purple: shoes, shirts, ribbons, hair, anything purple. Take a picture and send it to the Martha’s House Facebook Page: facebook.com/marthas.house
