OKEECHOBEE -- On Feb. 4, 2023, the Okeechobee County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division began a criminal mischief investigation for damages to the public restrooms at the Cliff Betts Lakeside Recreation Area (aka Lock 7) 200 HWY 78 West, after a passerby contacted the sheriff's office about damages to the bathrooms.
The responding deputy observed significant damage to the bathroom sink and divider, and the damages were estimated at the time of report as over $1,000.
