OKEECHOBEE — After a 911 call regarding an armed trespasser, Deputy Bryan Holden of the Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a home on U.S. 441 North. The caller told the dispatcher that a man came over with a firearm, looking for a bolt or screw. He added that Carr was making threats to kill someone.

The incident took place on Feb. 8 at approximately 3:45 p.m. Travis Carr, 33, was arrested and charged with armed trespassing.

According to the arrest report, Deputy Holden first spoke with Carr, who told him he took an antique rifle to a neighbor’s home looking for a bolt/screw to secure the stock to the rifle. He said he did not threaten anyone.

Next, the deputy spoke with Carr’s mother, who drove him to the neighbor’s home. She said he wanted to get his gun, and she asked him why he wanted it, since he is a convicted felon.

Speaking with the victim, the deputy learned that Carr jumped the man’s fence with a gun in his hand and then asked him for a bolt or screw. The man told Carr to get off his property. Carr asked him for all his guns so he could give them to his father for safekeeping, but the man said his father already had the guns. Then, he asked Carr what he needed a gun for. Carr reportedly said he needed it to blow someone’s head off. The man again told Carr to leave, and Carr allegedly told him he better be careful before getting down on the ground and doing pushups.

A witness to this incident said the gun was a modern rifle.

Bond was set at $10,000.
