OKEECHOBEE- Okeechobee’s Megan Williamson was named the Florida FFA Advisor of the Year at the 96th annual state convention this month.
At Yearling Middle School, Williamson helps introduce students to agriculture and participates in multiple events like the All-Star Show at the county fair and Ag-Venture. During her time at the school, YMS has dominated FFA judging competitions. This year alone, YMS had three state champions.
Yearling’s Hannah Butler, Ruby Keith, Matti Stokes, and Kinsley Vinson were named champions in the 2024 Florida FFA State Middle School Dairy Evaluation CDE on February 17.
YMS also finished third in the state in both poultry and livestock, while their horse team placed 21st overall in the state.
Helping present Williamson with the Advisor of the Year award was former YMS alumni and 2023-24 Florida FFA secretary Jenna Larson.
Last year the YMS dairy judging team earned second place in the state competition, behind Okeechobee’s other middle school, Osceola.
