The Okeechobee News staff made the news in 1951 when the United Press shared a story that the entire news team had closed the office and gone fishing!
Instead of putting out a newspaper that week, the story which ran in publications around the country, the Okeechobee News publisher Ammon McClellan just filled the week's paper with photos what had appeared in previous editions.
No cutline information was shared with the photos because "everybody knows everybody else anyhow."
