OCSO adds autism awareness decals to patrol cars

Posted
OKEECHOBEE — Notice anything new on our patrol vehicles (hint, hint, hint)?

Back story: We have a long history here at the Okeechobee County Sheriff's Office of supporting our Special Olympic athletes, some of whom are on the spectrum for autism.

Sheriff Stephen wanted to take that show of support a step further.

Starting June 28, you will see all marked patrol cars with the Autism Awareness Project sticker in their rear windows as a continued sign of support.

Sheriff Noel E. Stephen and Major Michael Hazellief (pictured) had a group of young people with autism as guests while announcing the project.

Our friends in attendance received a gold leaf O.C.S.O. sticker badge and an exact copy of the sticker placed on the patrol cars.
