OKEECHOBEE — On March 5, members of the Okeechobee County Sheriff's Office Community Action Team (CAT), Deputies Jessica Bunting and Robert Gonzalez, had the honor of speaking with the Vietnam Veterans of America and their spouses about the day-to-day work they do in our community. Being able to spend time with these veterans, true American heroes, meant a great deal to our team.

During the visit they shared what life on the CAT Team can look like. In one moment they may be assisting deputies in locating a dangerous suspect, and shortly after they may be helping a family who has lost their home to a fire begin the process of rebuilding their lives. That wide range of service is exactly what the Community Action Team was created for.

The CAT Team focuses on identifying special needs within our community, stepping in where additional attention, resources, and time are needed. Whether it is supporting families in crisis, connecting residents with services, or working alongside other deputies during enforcement operations, their mission is simple, invest in the people of Okeechobee and help make our community stronger.

We appreciate the Vietnam Veterans of America for inviting our team to speak and for the continued support they show to our agency and our community.
