Today, April 17, we are celebrating National Animal Control Officer Appreciation Week with a breakfast event at our Animal Control Office to show our gratitude for the hardworking officers. These individuals work tirelessly to maintain a safe environment for Okeechobee and all animals under their care. They collaborate with agencies nationwide to place pets in homes and non-kill shelters whenever possible. It's a difficult, scrutinized, and often thankless job, but the people in this picture work tirelessly every day. Let's take a moment to thank them for their hard work.
