OCSO reports traffic enforcement stops for month of May

OKEECHOBEE — Traffic congestion, reckless driving, and speeding across our county are among the numerous issues addressed by the Okeechobee County Sheriff's Office through various grants and strategic initiatives to enhance our effectiveness in these areas.

Sheriff Noel E. Stephen commends the men and women in our sheriff's office for the hard work they put in daily to help ensure the safety of our community. He also extends gratitude to our partner agency, the Florida Highway Patrol, for their increased presence on our community's roadways, which resulted in 118 citations issued in May.

In May, the Okeechobee County Sheriff's Office conducted 1,096 traffic enforcement stops, issuing 375 written warnings and 516 written or criminal citations. Additionally, our Uniformed Patrol Units responded to 3,460 calls during the same period.

As our community continues to grow, we remain committed to finding innovative and cost-effective solutions to meet the demands on our roads and fulfill our community's expectations and needs.
