OCSO starts LEAP program

Posted

OKEECHOBEE -- On Jan. 26, the Okeechobee County Sheriff's Office spent some time at the Okeechobee High School speaking with seniors about the new L.E.A.P. (Law Enforcement Apprenticeship Program).

Targetting O.H.S. seniors, this program was established to focus on local talent in the hopes of finding young men and women with the drive and desire to become a member of the O.C.S.O. team.

The OCSO will take care of their tuition, with the bonus of accompanying a possible career opportunity afterward starting at $38,000 with full benefits, once certified.

Certification takes approximately four months and, for the first time, be offered in Okeechobee at the Dixon Henry Campus at I.R.S.C.

If you have a senior that is interested in this program please follow the link to fill out, and turn in applications before April ends fin order to enter the June class.

If they didn't see you Wednesday, don't worry, they will be back every two weeks all the way through April.
There will be all new faces from OCSO there so that the young men and women see the diversity of our office.
"If you can see him/her, you can be him/her," says as Sheriff Noel E. Stephen.
