Okeechobee Fire Report

• Okeechobee City Fire Department responded to 15 EMS/medical, seven fire, six motor vehicle, two public assist and one false alarm call between Oct. 26 and Nov. 1

• Okeechobee County Fire Rescue responded to159 medical/EMS, four fire related, 14 motor vehicle, one aircraft standby, six smoke alarm activation, one chemical spill, seven dispatch and cancel and 14 miscellaneous calls last week. Of 129 possible transports, 12 were refused.

• On Oct. 28, OCFR responded to a call regarding a rubbish fire in the 4500 block of Southeast 23rd Court at approximately 7:30 p.m. When they arrived, they were told it was a burn pile in the backyard. They found a 10x15 burn pile behind the home. The owner was advised the burn was illegal because of the size, location, contents and time of day. The fire was extinguished.

• On Oct. 30, OCFR responded to a call regarding a fire in a mobile home in the 3500 block of Northwest 10th Avenue at approximately 6:45 p.m. When they arrived, they found a small mobile home with light smoke coming from the front door. All occupants were out of the structure. A resident stated a cigarette had been discarded in a trash can, and the can began smoking and they carried it outside.

• On Nov. 1, OCFR responded to a call regarding an emergency medical situation at approximately 9 a.m. in the 500 block of State Road 70 West. The team provided first aid after a vehicle fire.
