• Okeechobee City Fire Department responded to 15 medical/EMS, two fire related, two motor vehicle, one public assist and five dispatch and cancel calls between Nov. 23 and Nov. 29.
• Okeechobee County Fire Rescue responded to 147 medical/EMS, seven fire related, six motor vehicle, eight aircraft standby, five dispatch and cancel and 13 miscellaneous calls last week. Out of 114 possible transports, eight were refused.
• On Nov. 25 at approximately 11 p.m., OCFR responded to a call regarding a fire in a motor home in the 16500 block of 252nd Street. When they arrived they found the RV fully involved on a vacant lot. The owner told them he drove the vehicle onto the lot and his wife noticed fire coming from the engine compartment.
• On Nov. 27 at approximately 3 p.m., OCFR responded to a call regarding a building fire in the 1400 block of Southwest 83rd Avenue. When they arrived, they made sure all occupants were out of the home. Light smoke was showing on the north side of the structure. Power was turned off at the breaker box. Entry was made through the front door which was already open by the Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office. All hot spots were extinguished and the fire was ruled accidental, caused by electrical.
