The following report lists fires responded to in Okeechobee County and City by the Okeechobee City Fire Department and Okeechobee County Fire Rescue.

• Okeechobee City Fire Department responded to 25 medical/EMS, two fire related and eight motor vehicle accidents between Dec. 14 and Dec. 20.
• In the last year, Okeechobee County Fire Rescue has responded to 5,689 medical/EMS, 240 power line down or fire related, 129 aircraft standbys, 440 motor vehicle accidents, 133 public assists, 247 dispatch and cancel and 379 miscellaneous calls. Of 4,620 possible transports, 369 were refused.
• On Dec. 13, OCFR responded to a call regarding a building fire in the 3600 block of U.S. 441 North at approximately 6:45 p.m. When they arrived, they found clothes in the dryer still smoking along with some embers. Light smoke was showing throughout the building. The crew removed the clothing from the dryer and turned off the natural gas at the meter. They found the gas shut off to the dryer and turned that off prior to turning gas back on to rest of the building and briefing maintenance man on the situation.
• On Dec. 18, OCFR responded to a call at approximately 5:30 a.m. regarding smoke coming out of a breaker panel in a residence in the 18400 block of Northwest 184th Drive. While en route, the crew requested Glades Electric respond to the residence. The occupant met them in the front yard and said there was no smoke but the breaker panel was covered in soot. The crew found the main electrical supply line behind the breaker panel had shorted and burned in two. When Glades Electric arrived, power was secured, and the homeowners said they would contact an electrician.
• On Dec. 20, OCFR and OCFD responded to a call just after midnight regarding a fire in a mobile home located in the 5800 block of Northeast Eighth Way. The call reported their were people unaccounted for. Upon arrival, they found light smoke showing from the entire structure, and they received a report that all occupants were now accounted for. They began an overhaul of the oven, disconnected the power and turned off the gas. Once they completed an assessment of all occupants and a walk through of the structure, the power was turned back on and Red Cross was called for assistance.
