OKEECHOBEE -- Members of the Okeechobee Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR), recently welcomed Shellie Mitchell, assistant facilities maintenance director for the Okeechobee County Board of County Commissioners, and David Jacobs of the Okeechobee County cemetery management for a presentation on Chronicle, the new digital mapping system for the Evergreen and Basinger Cemeteries. The program highlighted how the system will assist in locating and documenting gravesites, supporting the chapter’s Historic Preservation Committee in identifying patriots, veterans, and DAR members. The new tool is expected to streamline research and strengthen ongoing preservation efforts in the community.
