Poem: Why Easter

Posted

The Father said, “Son, you have to go,
Down to sinful earth to let my people go”

Jesus emptied Himself the scriptures say
To earth come, He as a babe on that special day.

His life was devoted to His Father’s will,
Which lead Him up to that awful hill
In agony of soul in the garden He prayed
That the cup would depart and the sentence stayed

Yet in full obedience to His Father’s will
The cup that He was given He drained of its swill,
Your sins and mine and all the worlds too
Were in the cup of sorrow, that cup of poo.

What He bore in the garden I cannot comprehend,
Yet soon on the cross His life would end
For there all alone and suffering great pain,
He endured abandonment so God’s love would reign.

When He gave up His Spirit to the Father above
He died for us to show his Father’s great love

Loving hands took him down and to the tomb He was carried
And there for three days and nights he lay buried.

The Father was there, gazing on Him as He slept,
Even though His disciples and so many wept
But soon to end was that time of sorrow
As He was resurrected on that glorious morrow

The perfect sin offering whose life’s blood was shed
Jesus, our Redeemer who stood in our stead
He completed by His death, revealing God’s great plan
To reconcile and tabernacle with His creature, man

So with Jesus you can have this personal relation
To fill your mind and heart with the Holy Elation

Also begged He the Father the Comforter to send
To fill and be with us till our time here will end

If you dare with your mouth Him to confess
And believe in your heart without duress

Then with Jesus you as redeemed will forever be
A part of His Bride, a member of His church, His holy assembly.

A place for us now He has prepared up there
For all who have accepted and confessed Him did dare
So if, dear sinner Him you have not believed
Accept Him today and such a blessing receive

Oh what must have been that entry so Glorious
When back to heaven He returned so victorious

The Father’s glory and many honors rare
Were heaped upon His wondrous Son up there

And soon will come that special day
When the Trump will sound and call us away
To rise and meet Him in the air
Soon the Bridegroom will have His Bride so fair.

He will, as the center of a vast throng,
Lead us in singing to God the new song
Holy, Holy Holy blessed God we praise Thee
Which will resound throughout heaven for all eternity.
