Pickering worked under three different police chiefs, and plans to continue his work at the academy teaching rookies how to do their jobs well.
Pickering, who has a close relationship with Santa Claus said, “Santa Claus and I are tight. I have it on good authority he will be back.”
Pickering was honored during the Tuesday night city council meeting.
