Project Lifesaver might be able to help your family

Posted

OKEECHOBEE — A few years ago, Okeechobee County Sheriff Noel Stephen partnered with FAU Autism and the Alzheimer's Association to bring Project Lifesaver to Okeechobee. The program was and is free to participants.

What is Project Lifesaver?

Project Lifesaver uses a small tracker that can be worn on the wrist or ankle. The waterproof device is battery-operated and has a battery life of 45-60 days.

We understand coming into our office for battery changes may be inconvenient, but it's a small price to pay for the peace of mind that comes with knowing your device is functioning correctly. And, if you really can't make it in, we do offer exceptions for home visits. So, don't hesitate to schedule an appointment today!

If someone in the program wanders away on foot in Okeechobee County, we can track and locate them with precision using radio waves. It can take us within feet, sometimes inches from the individual, even within buildings or water. The program is becoming more popular as it uses radio waves, eliminating dead zones without needing GPS coverage.

Our mission is to turn recoveries into rescues, and we are dedicated to bringing your beloved family member home safely. With our commitment to excellence and state-of-the-art technology, we will do everything in our power to ensure a successful outcome. Trust us to be your partner in this journey and let us bring your loved one back to you.

If you are a caregiver for someone with special needs or cognitive issues who tends to wander off and thinks they could benefit from wearing a bracelet, please take a look at Project Lifesaver. You can also visit us to get an application for S.A.F.E. and write "Project Lifesaver" on the top.
You can also call Sgt. Jack Nash at 863.763.3117 Ext 5018.
