Reflections from the Pulpit: The True Reason

Posted

I would like to wish everyone a Merry CHRISTmas, and no, that is not a typo. I capitalized CHRIST because he is the true reason for CHRISTmas.

Throughout recent years, I never thought that I would see such a thing as cancel culture, but truly the world has been trying to cancel Jesus for years. I remember as a child that I had a teacher that had us write Merry Xmas on a decoration because it would save space. It didn’t feel right to a 11 year old boy and it doesn’t feel right today.

I see Merry Xmas everywhere and it disturbs me because I truly know what he blessed us with eternal salvation that he paid for at the cross and that is better than anything that could be given this holiday.

As a boy growing up in south Florida my parents always talked about Santa and the giving of gifts, but they always kept us focused on the savior Jesus. The world has tried to cancel him for ever. I remember a few years ago that it was politically correct to say Happy Holidays so we wouldn’t offend anyone. Well, I tried that and it didn’t feel right, so I went back to saying Merry CHRISTmas because he deserves it and we need to be reminded of him and salvation only found through him.

I would like to encourage all of you when you are sitting around in celebration to thank him and to spread the word to your loved ones that JESUS CHRIST is the true reason for the season it might change someone’s life. God Bless You and Merry CHRISTmas.

Christmas, Jesus
